This week was a relatively slow week for investing activities. The dividends received were really good this week. Let’s check out how things went this week.
Dividends
No dividends were received in the Roth IRA this week.
The following dividends were received in the Traditional IRA this week:
- Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) $23.39
- Hanesbrands (HBI) $0.76
- International Business Machines (IBM) $41.30
- Prudential Financial (PRU) $18.83
- Microsoft Corp (MSFT) $14.05
- 3M Company (MMM) $28.61
The total amount of dividends received this week was $126.94. All proceeds were reinvested to continue the compounding. Weeks like this remind me why I am a dividend investor. While $126.94 is not a whole lot of money, it is money that I did not have to work for and is now being put back to work for me to earn more money in the future. By continuing to add to my accounts and the power of compounding I should be able to produce enough money to live on when I retire in less than ten years.
Buys/Sells
This week the only purchase was in the Roth IRA. I started a new position in the J.P. Morgan Equity Premium Income ETF (JEPI). I purchased 0.125 shares of JEPI. This is a position I will to grow in the future. The following is the stated objective of the fund as found on the Fidelity website. “The investment seeks current income while maintaining prospects for capital appreciation. The fund seeks to provide the majority of the returns associated with its primary benchmark, the Standard & Poor’s 500 Total Return Index (S&P 500 Index), while exposing investors to less risk through lower volatility and still offering incremental income. Under normal circumstances, the fund invests at least 80% of its assets in equity securities. It may also invest in other equity securities not included in the S&P 500 Index.”
Overall it was a slow week for buying and selling stocks for me.
Options Trading
The following is the options trading activity for the week:
- Verizon (VZ) sold a covered call at a strike price of $60 expiring on 3/19/21 for a premium of $7.55 after fees.
- AT&T (T) a covered call expired out of the money on 3/12/21.
- Plains All American Pipeline (PAA) a covered call expired out of the money on 3/12/21.
- Hanesbrands (HBI) a cash secured put expired out of the money on 3/12/21.
The total premiums received this week were $7.55. It was also a slow week for options trading this week.
Accounts Update
The Traditional IRA finished the week at $109,212. This was a really good week finishing the week up $2,807 over last week.
The 401k finished the week at $6,237. This is up $247 over last week. This does include the automatic contributions made this week from my paycheck.
The Roth IRA finished the week at $319. This is up $14 over last week.
The taxable growth account finished the week at $180. This is up $12 over last week or 7.38%. This was a nice little rebound after being down last week. If you want to check out my positions in this M1 Finance account you can here: https://m1.finance/yhahVyq_HLoE.
Wrap Up
This was not a very active week for me investing wise. It was still nice to see $134.49 in dividends and options premium produced this week with very little effort on my part. This money will be put to work in order to make more money to help the accounts grow so I can achieve financial freedom. Thanks for following along on my journey!
