Weekly Investing Review 4/24/21

This week saw little activity for dividends received but quite a bit of activity in the buys and options trading. Overall the accounts were up this week. Let’s check out the details for this week’s activity.

Dividends

This week was a very light week for dividends. I received the following dividends in my Roth IRA this week:

  • Main Street Capital (MAIN) $0.16 (reinvested)
  • Nationwide Risk Managed Income ETF (NUSI) $0.36 (pending reinvestment)

The total dividends received this week was $0.52. Like I said, it was a light week for dividends. I expect next week to be a good week for dividends.

Buys/Sells

My monthly contribution of $60 was made to the Roth IRA this week. The following were the buys in the Roth IRA:

  • Nationwide Risk Managed Income ETF (NUSI) bought 1 share.
  • J.P. Morgan Equity Premium Income ETF (JEPI) bought 0.5 share.

The following were the buys in the Traditional IRA:

  • Fidelity MSCI Information Technology ETF (FTEC) bought 1.5 shares.

I received a $30 referral bonus from M1 Finance after the markets closed last week. The following were the buys in the growth account with M1 Finance:

  • Iovance Biotherapeutics (IOVA) $1.00
  • Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (KTOS) $1.19
  • Twist Bioscience Corp (TWST) $1.18
  • Shopify Inc. (SHOP) $1.62
  • Alibaba (BABA) $2.14
  • Pinterest (PINS) $1.58
  • Teladoc Health Inc. (TDOC) $1.88
  • Intercontinental Exchange Inc. $1.06
  • Zillow Group Inc. (Z) $1.90
  • PayPal Holdings Inc. (PYPL) $1.17
  • Deere & Co. (DE) $1.22
  • Invitae Corp. (NVTA) $1.90
  • Square Inc. (SQ) $1.10

  • MercadoLibre Inc. (MELI) $1.67

The purchases in the M1 Finance account occurred automatically. Once the cash balance gets above the limit I set, which is currently $25, M1 automatically buys based on my previously set percentage weighting for each position.

I did not sell any positions this week.

Options Trading

The following is the options trading activity for the week:

  • Invesco Mortgage (IVR) sold a covered call at a strike price of $4.00 expiring May 7, 2021 for a premium of $4.71 after fees.

As you can see, it was a pretty busy week for options trading. The total premium received this week was $131.25. I rolled the covered call option on SCHD out to a future date at a higher strike price for a loss of -$1.37 but it still is in the money. At some point I will probably just let this ride. If my shares get called away I will just buy the shares back. I am still learning about options and developing a strategy.
