Dividends, Investing and Options Trading for Week Ending 7/30/2021

Advertisements

The S&P 500, Dow 30 and NASDAQ were all down this week. Many Chinese stocks also continued on a downward trend this week. Is time to panic? No, I will continue to invest as planned. Is the stock market going to crash? Yes, eventually, but I have no idea when. I will just stick to my plan and continue to invest. Let’s check out how my accounts did this week.

Dividends

In the Traditional IRA I received the following dividends this week:

Both dividends were deposited to the core account for reinvestment at a future time.

In the Roth IRA I received the following dividends this week:

Both dividends were reinvested into the underlying positions.

In the taxable brokerage account I received the following dividend this week:

This dividend was deposited to the core account for reinvestment at a future time.

The total amount of dividends received this week was $18.69. This is a small amount but it will still help to keep the accounts growing.

Buys/Sells

The following buys were made in the Traditional IRA this:

The following buys were made in the Roth IRA this week:

The following buys were made in the 401k this week:

The only sell this week was in the Roth IRA:

I sold out of my position in SLVO. This was a very small position that I was tracking to see how it performed. I took a small loss on this position.

Options Trading

The following options trades were in the Traditional IRA this week:

The total options premium received this week was $109.28.

Account Updates

The Traditional IRA finished the week at $117,861. This is down $9 from the previous week.

The Roth IRA finished the week at $699. This is up $1 from the previous week.

The 401k finished the week at $8,333. This is up $188 from the previous week. This includes the bi-weekly contribution of about $177.

The taxable brokerage account finished the week at $300. This is down $11 from the previous week. Some of this is due the downtrend in Chinese stocks. I do have exposure to some Chinese stocks in this account such as BABA, JD and BIDU. For now I will continue to hold these stocks as I believe the stocks will recover. I do plan to make some additions to this account next week.

I have decided to start including my very small amount of cryptocurrency. Currently, I have .0003873 BTC. At the time of this writing it was valued at $16.08. Cryptocurrencies are very volatile and trade 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so it is hard to get an accurate value. My exposure to bitcoin is from the rewards I have received using the website lolli. (The link contains my referral link. We both could receive $5 in rewards if you sign up using the link.) As of now, I have not used any of my money to purchase cryptocurrency. This will probably change in the future. I need to learn more about cryptocurrency. I now have enough bitcoin to transfer off of lolli. I need to do more research to find a place to put my bitcoin. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Also, should I include my cryptocurrency holdings with my investments or savings? I am not sure how I should classify it.

The total amount invested across all accounts is about $127,210. This up by about $186 over the previous week. This includes the bi-weekly contribution to the 401k of about $177 and the addition of my cryptocurrency to the total. Overall, the accounts were were down slightly this week.

Wrap Up

The total amount of dividends and options premium received this week was $127.97. The stock market was down some this week and so were my accounts. I think my accounts handle the week well. I continue to stick to my plan and continue to invest. The overall amount of money I have invested continues to grow. I continue to receive dividends and options premium. I continue to be satisfied with my progress. Well, that pretty much wraps it up for this week. Thanks for following along on my journey!
