Dividends, Investing and Options Trading for Week Ending 9/3/2021

Another up week for the S&P 500 and NASDAQ resulted in another up week for my accounts as well. This week was a little more active in the accounts. Dividends were up. Options premium was up. I made a few buys and actually sold out of a position this week. Let’s check out the details below!

Dividends

The following dividends were received in the Traditional IRA this week:

  • Fidelity Government Money Market Account (SPAXX) – $0.01
  • Visa Inc. (V) – $5.62
  • Kroger Co. (KR) – $17.85
  • Enbridge Inc. (ENB) – $42.13

All of the above dividends were reinvested into the underlying positions.

This week I received the following dividends in the Roth IRA:

  • Wells Fargo Co. (WFC) – $0.20
  • Amplify CWP Enhanced Dividend Income ETF (DIVO) – $0.15

All of the above dividends were reinvested into the underlying positions.

The following dividend was received in the taxable brokerage account this week:

  • Amplify CWP Enhanced Dividend Income ETF (DIVO) – $0.02

This dividend was deposited into the core account for reinvestment at a later time.

The total amount of dividends received this week totaled $65.97.

Buys/Sells

The following buys were made in the Traditional IRA this week:

  • Kroger Co. (KR) – 7.7 shares

This purchase completed my goal of having more than 100 shares of KR. I will now be able to sell covered calls against this position.

The following buys were made in the Roth IRA this week:

  • Invesco NASDAQ Next Gen 100 ETF (QQQJ) – 0.339 shares
  • Nationwide Risk Managed Income ETF (NUSI) – 0.347 shares
  • J.P. Morgan Equity Premium Income ETF (JEPI) – 0.16 shares
  • Huntington Bancshares Inc. (HBAN) – 1 share

QQQJ was purchased to add to the growth element of this account. I also added to a couple of ETFs to increase the income this account produces. I have been adding to HBAN for multiple reasons. First, I believe it is undervalued. I have seen 1 year estimates between $17 and $18. Through my own analysis, I would be willing to buy this stock up to a price of $17.14. It provides a good dividend yield which is currently just under 4%. Also, HBAN bought out/merged with my bank, TCF. I like investing in companies that I use their products or services.

The following buys were made in the taxable brokerage account this week:

  • Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (KTOS) – $1.90
  • Materialise Nv – ADR (MTLS) – $1.30
  • Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF (SCHD) – $3.64
  • Zillow Group Inc. (Z) – $2.68
  • Amazon (AMZN) – $2.59
  • Intercontinental Exchange Inc. (ICE) – $1.53
  • JD.com Inc. – ADR (JD) – $1.36
  • Spotify Technology (SPOT) – $1.44
  • Alibaba (BABA) – $4.92
  • Pinterest Inc. (PINS) -$2.74
  • Baidu Inc. – ADR (BIDU) – $2.70

These buys were part of my automated $25 monthly contribution. This account is with M1 Finance. The account is set up to automatically make buys based the percentage allocation I chose when I set up the account.

The sells this week were in the Roth IRA:

  • Wells Fargo Co. (WFC) – sold out of this position

I sold out of WFC due to their ongoing management issues. I believe my money is better off invested in different companies. I do feel that I have too many positions to effectively managed so I will be looking to slowly decrease the number of positions I own.

Options Trading

The following options trades were made in the Traditional IRA this week:

  • XL Fleet Corp. (XL) – bought a closing transaction on a cash secured put expiring November 19, 2021 for a premium of -$132.68 after fees.
  • XL Fleet Corp. (XL) – sold a cash secured put at a strike price of $7 expiring on February 18, 2022 for a premium of $186.31 after fees.
  • Kroger Co. (KR) – sold a covered call at a strike price of $50 expiring on September 10, 2021 for a premium of $16.31 after fees.

The total amount of options premium received this week was $69.94.

Account Updates

The Traditional IRA finished the week at about $120,012. That is up $355 over the previous week.

The Roth IRA finished the week at about $835. That is up $11 over the previous week.

The 401k finished the week at about $8,849. That is up $76 over the previous week.

The taxable brokerage account finished the week at about $361. That is up $33 over the previous week. This includes the $25 monthly contribution to this account.

The little bit of bitcoin that I own finished the week at $21.24. This is up $0.18 over the previous week.

The total amount invested is now about $130,078. This is up $475 over the previous week. If you would like to see all of the positions in my investment accounts you can click Portfolios in the menu or follow this link: https://bluecollarbill.com/portfolios/

Wrap Up

The total amount of dividends and options premium received this week was $135.91. The growth of the accounts continues to be slow and steady. The total amount invested has now topped $130,000 and it feels like $150,000 is just right around the corner. That wraps it up for this week. Thanks for following along!
