Dividends, Investing and Options Trading for Week Ending 9/17/2021

Advertisements

The S&P 500 and NASDAQ were a little bit of a roller coaster ride this week, going up then down then back up before finishing the week down. Even though it was a down week in the markets there was some good news, dividend raises for several companies that I own in my portfolio, including Microsoft (MSFT), Texas Intruments (TXN), U.S. Bancorp (USB) and more. I will be detailing all of the dividend raises I received this week in a separate blog post. There was more activity in the accounts than normal this week, at least in the IRAs. Let’s check out the details!

Dividends

The following dividends were received in the Traditional IRA this week:

All of the above dividends were reinvested into the underlying positions.

The following dividends were received in the Roth IRA this week:

Both of these dividends were reinvested into the underlying positions.

The total amount of dividends received this week was $71.13.

Buys/Sells

The following buys were made in the Traditional IRA this week:

The following buys were made in the Roth IRA this week:

There were no sells this week.

I had held 10 warrants in a SPAC, Qell Acquisition Corp. (QELLW) for awhile now. Well, the merger completed this week. My warrants were converted over to the new company Lilium (LILMW). At this time, I have not made a decision on what I will do with these warrants.

Options Trading

The following options trades were made in the Traditional IRA this week:

The total amount of options premium received this week was $25.32. The covered call on PAA being assigned was planned to exit this position. The covered call on DGRO being assigned was not planned. I will do a new blog post to explain how I will use the proceeds from these positions being assigned.

Account Updates

The Traditional IRA finished the week at about $117,533. This is down -$157 from the previous week.

The Roth IRA finished the week at about $907. This is up $93 over the previous week. This includes the $100 automatic monthly contribution, so the account actually ended up being down a little bit this week.

The 401k finished the week at about $8,900. This is down -$28 from the previous week.

The taxable brokerage account finished the week at about $351. This is even with last week’s total.

The little bit of bitcoin in my portfolio finished the week at $21.05. This is up $1.32 over the previous week.

The total amount invested is now about $127,712. This is down -$91 from the previous week. You can see all of the positions in my portfolio by clicking on Portfolios in the menu above or by clicking this link: https://bluecollarbill.com/portfolios/

Wrap Up

The total amount of dividends and options premium received this week was $96.45. Even though is was a down week for my accounts I still feel like it was a productive week. The money from dividends and options premium was reinvested into assets that will produce passive income. The monthly contribution to the Roth IRA was used to buy assets that will produce passive income. Combine that with all of the dividend raises that were announced this week and my passive income grew this week even though my account values dropped. This is why I love being a dividend investor. I can grow my income from dividends no matter what the market is doing. That wraps it up for this week. Thanks for following along!
