Dividends, Investing and Options Trading Weekly Update 7/29/22

Advertisements

The stock market stumbled a little bit at the start of the week going down slightly the first couple of days. Then, on Wednesday, the stock market took off and both the S&P 500 and NASDAQ finished the week up over 4%. I am still not sure if this is a bear market rally or if the stock market is recovering and getting ready to go on a bull run. Regardless of what the market is going to do, I am going to continue with my plan. Despite the market rebounding this month, I still believe there are good deals to be had on quality companies and I continue to buy. Let’s check out the details for my weekly update on dividends, investing and options trading.

Dividends

The following dividend was received in the Roth IRA this week:

This dividend is pending reinvestment into the underlying position. The total amount of dividends received this week came to $1.66.

Account Updates

The Traditional IRA finished the week at about $115,950. As a result, the account value increased by $3,227 from the previous week.

The Roth IRA finished the week at about $4,248. As a result, the account value increased by $321 from the previous week. This includes a contribution of $200.

The 401k finished the week at about $13,398. As a result, the account value increased by $678 from the previous week. This includes a contribution of $269.

The taxable brokerage account finished the week at about $391. As a result, the account value increased by $5 from the previous week.

The little bit of bitcoin I own finished the week at about $16. This is up $2 from last week.

This brings the total amount invested to $134,003. Week over week, the total amount invested increased by $4,233. You can see all of the companies and funds I invest in by clicking “Overall Portfolio” in the menu above.

Wrap Up

The combined income from dividends and options premium totaled $208.96 this week. This week was another down week for dividends. January, April, July and October are the months I receive the lowest amount of dividends so the low amount of dividends received was expected. Options trading was better this week. I am still trying to make up for the loss on my SOXL position which was called away at a price significantly below my cost basis. I made some good progress on that this week by selling puts. That wraps it up for my weekly update on dividends, investing and options trading. Thanks for following along!
