Dividends, Investing and Options Trading for Week Ending 9/10/2021

The S&P 500 and NASDAQ were both down for the week. All of my accounts were also down this week. How did I handle this volatility in the market? Did I panic and sell out of some of my positions? Did I go on a buying spree because a lot of stocks were on sale? Let’s just say investing can often be boring. Let’s check out the details of how my week went.

This week the following dividends were received in the Traditional IRA:

The dividends from JNJ and TSCO were reinvested into the underlying positions. The dividends from MSFT and IBM were deposited into the core account to be reinvested at a future time.

The following dividend was received in the Roth IRA this week:

This dividend was reinvested into the underlying position.

The total amount of dividends received this week was $88.73.

It was a quiet week of investing for me. The only buys this week were in the 401k. No sells were made this week.

The following buys were made in the 401k this week:

Options Trading

The following options trades were made in the Traditional IRA this week:

The total amount of options premium received this week was $27.63.

Account Updates

The Traditional IRA finished the week at about $117,690. This is down -$2,322 from the previous week.

The Roth IRA finished the week at about $814. This is down -$21 from the previous week.

The 401k finished the week at about $8,928. This is up $79 over the previous week. This includes the automatic bi-weekly contribution of about $177. This account would have been down by about -$98 this week if the contribution was excluded.

The taxable brokerage account finished the week at about $351. This is down -$10 from the previous week.

My little bit of bitcoin finished the week at $19.73. This is down -$1.51 from the previous week.

The total amount invested across all accounts is about $127,803. This is down -$2,275 from the previous week. If you would like to see all of the positions in my portfolio you can by clicking on Portfolios in the menu or following this link:

Wrap Up

The total amount of dividends and options premium received this week was $116.36. This money is reinvested back into the accounts to ensure the accounts grow over time. While the market went down this week I just maintained my positions. I did not panic sell. I also did not make a lot of buys this week while some stocks were on sale. I did not view this pullback as very significant. If the markets continue to decline next week I may get more aggressive in buying some stocks on sale. Even though the markets were down, I still received dividends this week which were reinvested to create more dividends in the future. I really do not concern myself too much with the direction of the market. It goes up, it goes down, and I stick to my plan. I believe that if I stick to my plan I will come out ahead in the long run. Well, that wraps it up for this week. Thanks for following along!
