The markets were trading up for most of the week before diving toward the end of the trading day on Friday. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones managed to stay positive for the week while drop on Friday caused the NASDAQ to finish in the red. For the most part, my accounts were up. This week was a good way to finish out a good year. Let’s check out the details of my week!
Dividends
The following dividends were received in the Traditional IRA this week:
- Lockheed Martin Corp. (LMT) – $25.20
- Vanguard Total Stock Market Index ETF (VTI) – $15.01
- Fidelity Government Money Market (SPAXX) – $0.03
- Broadcom Inc. (AVGO) – $21.56
All of the above dividends were reinvested into the underlying positions.
The following dividends were received in the Roth IRA this week:
- Nationwide NASDAQ 100 Risk Managed Income ETF (NUSI) – $1.37
- Vanguard Growth ETF – (VUG) – $0.22
- Invesco NASDAQ Next Generation ETF (QQQJ) – $0.65 ($0.06 was a dividend, $0.59 was classified as short term capital gain)
- Crown Castle International Corp. (CCI) – $0.22
- Main Street Capital (MAIN) – $0.08
All of the above dividends were reinvested into the underlying positions.
The following dividends were received in the taxable account this week:
- Vanguard Total Stock Market Index ETF (VTI) – $0.19
- Invesco NASDAQ 100 ETF (QQQM) – $0.04
Both of these dividends were deposited into the core account for reinvesting at a future time.
The total amount of dividends received this week was $64.57.
Buys/Sells
The following buys were made in the Roth IRA this week:
- Vanguard Growth ETF (VUG) – 0.06 shares
- Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF (SCHD) – 0.123 shares
- Invesco NASDAQ Next Generation ETF (QQQJ) – 0.297 shares
- Omega Healthcare Investors Inc. (OHI) – 1 share
- Nationwide NASDAQ 100 Risk Managed Income ETF (NUSI) – 1.43 shares
- J.P. Morgan Equity Premium Income ETF (JEPI) – 0.63 shares
- Amplify CWP Enhanced Dividend ETF (DIVO) – 0.26 shares
- Store Capital Corp. (STOR) – 0.573 shares
- Innovative Industrial Properties Inc. (IIPR) – 0.076 shares

Options Trading
The following options trades were made in the Traditional IRA this week:
- Hyliion Holdings (HYLN) – sold a cash secured put at a strike price of $6.50 expiring on December 31, 2021 for a premium of $24.32 after fees. This contract expired in the money and 100 shares were assigned to me.
- Enbridge Inc. (ENB) – sold a covered call at a strike price of $42.50 expiring on April 14, 2022 for a premium of $19.32 after fees.
- AT&T Inc. (T) – sold a covered call at a strike price of $26.00 expiring on January 28, 2022 for a premium of $19.32 after fees.
- Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF (SCHD) – bought a closing transaction on a covered call at a strike price of $76 expiring April 14, 2022 for a premium of -$590.67 including fees.
- Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF (SCHD) – sold a covered call at a strike price of $76 expiring July 15, 2022 for a premium of $659.32 after fees.
The total amount of options premium received this week was $131.61. The SCHD position is currently deep in the money. I have been rolling it when I can in order to collect premium. If I get lucky, I might be able to salvage this position. The more likely scenarios are that the shares will be called away or I will buy back the contract for a major loss.
Account Updates
The Traditional IRA finished the week at about $124,698. This is up $1,286 over the previous week.
The Roth IRA finished the week at about $2,087. This is up $529 over the previous week. This includes a contribution of $500.
The 401k finished the week at about $10,544. This is up $253 over the previous week. This includes a contribution of about $177.
The taxable brokerage account finished the week at about $355. This is down $4 from the previous week.
The little bit of bitcoin that I own finished the week at about $23. This is down $1 from the previous week.
The total amount invested is now about $137,707. This is up $2,063 over the previous week. All of the positions in my portfolio can be seen by clicking “Portfolios” in the menu or clicking here.
Wrap Up
The total amount of dividends, options premium and interest received this week was $202.66. This week was a great way to end the year with the overall portfolio value up and a good amount of income. This is the final week of the year and it is a good way to cap off a great year. I wish everyone a Happy New Year! I look forward to building on the progress I made this year in 2022.
