Dividends, Investing and Options Trading for Week Ending 1/14/22

The S&P 500 and NASDAQ started down last Monday but rallied during the middle of week. Both dropped hard on Friday morning but rallied before the end of the trading day with the end result of both being down slightly for the week. My accounts were down for the week but the total amount invested increased due to contributions. To start the year I got a small raise at work. Before this raise even hit my bank account, I raised my contributions to my 401k to match the raise so I can avoid lifestyle creep. Let’s check out the details for my week!

The Roth IRA finished the week at about $2,137. This is down -$13 from the previous week.

The 401k finished the week at about $10,634. This is up $238 over the previous week. When the bi-weekly contribution is factored in it is down for the week. The bi-weekly contribution increased from about $177 to about $264.

The taxable brokerage account finished the week at about $351. This is down -$7 from the previous week.

The little bit of bitcoin that I own finished the week at $21. This is even with the previous week.

The total amount invested is now about $137,812. This is up $110 over the previous week. All of the positions in my portfolio can be seen by clicking on “Portfolios” in the menu or clicking here.

Wrap Up

The total amount of dividends and options premium received this week was $223.86. I have a feeling this could be a volatile year in the stock market. A lot of factors are working against the market such as inflation, interest rate increases, the Fed reducing its balance sheet, supply chain issues and labor shortages. Whether the market is up or down I am going to stick to my plan and continue investing. In fact, I am finding ways to invest more such as putting my raise from work into my 401k. That wraps it up for this week. Thanks for following along!

On a side note, I have added a Recommended Resources in the menu. It currently is a work in progress. It will contain blogs and YouTube channels that I enjoy as well as some sites that I use. I hope you take the time to check it out.
