Dividends, Investing and Options Trading for Week Ending 3/11/22

Advertisements

The S&P 500 and NASDAQ finished down again this week. This has been the trend so far this year. Year to date the S&P 500 is down almost 12% and the NASDAQ is down almost 18%. Based on the current environment which includes pending interest rate hikes by the Fed and geopolitical tensions from Russia invading Ukraine, I expect this trend to continue. While it may seem scary in the moment to invest in the stock market while it is falling, now could be the time to invest more to create future wealth. A few years from now we will likely look back on this time as a great buying opportunity. That said, let’s take a look at how the accounts performed this week.

Account Updates

The Traditional IRA finished the week at about $118,692. This is down $2,136 from the previous week.

The Roth IRA finished the week at about $2,559. This is down $51 from the previous week.

The 401k finished the week at about $10,770. This is down $227 from the previous week.

The taxable brokerage account finished the week at about $324. This is down $16 from the previous week.

The little bit of bitcoin that I own finished the week at about $18. This is flat week over week.

The total amount invested is now about $132,363. This is down $2,430 from the previous week. All of the positions in my portfolio can be seen by clicking “Portfolios” in the menu above.

Wrap Up

The total amount of dividends and options premium received this week was $307.36. This was another solid week of cash flow for the accounts even though there was not a lot of activity in the accounts. Seeing the accounts generate cash flow keeps me motivated to continue investing, even when the markets are going down. By investing now I am creating a future that will be funded by the cashflow from my accounts. That wraps it up for this week. Thanks for following along!

On a side note, I have added a Recommended Resources in the menu. It currently is a work in progress. It will contain blogs and YouTube channels that I enjoy as well as some sites that I use. I hope you take the time to check it out.
