October has come to an end so it is time for another update. This month was a down month for income. In fact, it was my second worst month of the year. Despite it being a down month, some good things still came out of it. Let’s take a look at how much income from my accounts I received in October.
For the month, I received a total of $308.49 in dividends. This is down considerably, mostly because I exited my position in Altria Group (MO). This is an decrease over October 2023 when I received $415.91 in dividends. This is a 25.83% decrease year over year. For the year I have received $5,549.12 in dividends. This puts me at 79.27% toward my goal of $7,000 dividends received for the year. Again, I am behind pace to reach my goal for the year.
Options premium received in October was down this month when compared to last month. The total for the month was $437.13. For the year, I have received $6,230.09 in options premium. Below is chart of all the options trades I made in October.

The total amount of income produced from my accounts for October was $981.05. This includes dividends, options premium, interest and interest from loaning out some my shares. For the year, my accounts have produced $12,815.12 of income which has been reinvested back into the accounts to allow the compounding effect to grow my accounts. This puts me over my goal of $12,500 of income from accounts this year.
I am disappointed I did not reach $1,000 of income this month for only the second time this year. However, I am excited. I have already surpassed my income goal for the year. I guess I should have set my goal higher. I thought a 23% increase in income from 2023 was going to be harder to achieve. I still have some work to do to achieve my dividend goal but I am confident I will achieve it.
As always, I will continue to invest and reinvest the dividends and options premium. Pursuing this plan will allow the income from my accounts to grow. One day it will be enough to cover my expenses and allow me to retire. Thanks for joining along! If a blue collar factory worker like me can do this, so can you.
